5 Reasons to Use Blogger

Blogger? I haven’t heard about that!

Blogger logoWhat!? You haven’t heard about Blogger? Welcome to the internet, my friend. Blogger is a free blog service that Google offers to everyone. You’re welcome to create a free blog there! There are several features, but I’m afraid to say that they’re pretty limited. Try it, you won’t lose anything. :)

Most people, especially the ones who can purchase their own domains and host their own blogs, do not use Blogger as their blogging platform. I can see why, and it’s because of the limitations — not a lot of themes/templates are available, a very few number of plug-ins (I don’t think there are plug-ins for Blogger) and of course, the flexibility. Even if you host your Blogger blog on your domain, you still have to display the navigation bar on top of your pages. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check a blog hosted on blogspot.com and see for yourself.

I know that most of you will recommend WordPress, and you’ll say that it’s the best blogging platform… ever. But there are disadvantages, especially when you’re not hosting it on your own domain. In this post, I’ll give five (5) reasons to use Blogger, and hopefully, you’ll be convinced that it’s still worth using it especially in certain circumstances.

5 Reasons to Use Blogger

1. It’s FREE!
Sure, it has limitations and all that… but what more would you want? It’s a free blog hosting service, you won’t have to pay for a domain and a host… and there are no forced ads to annoy your visitors! How cool is that?

2. You can SURELY monetize it.
You can’t serve advertisements on free WordPress blogs, but you sure can do on Blogger blogs! As you may know Google owns both Blogger and AdSense, so ads can easily be put into a Blogger blog. I think that there’s a high AdSense acceptance rate for people who are using Blogger, so you can earn some money while blogging. :)

3. Your blog can gain popularity faster than any other free hosted blogs.
Did you notice that navigation bar on top of every Blogger blog? You can use it to jump to another blog, so chances are, visitors of other blogs will be able to drop by yours!

And oh, did you know that StumbleUpon has just introduced StumbleThru? It’s “a brand new way to explore personalized content within fast-growing sites”. Well… people can choose to visit blogs hosted on Blogger only, and that will surely increase your chance of getting more visitors.

4. You can experiment with it.
If you have new ideas coming in your mind, you can instantly create a new Blogger blog to see if the niche is profitable or something. Because it’s free, your money won’t be wasted in case that idea isn’t as good as you think it was. :)

5. You don’t have to know how to install a blogging software.
Some people do not know how to setup self-hosted blogs, so for them not to really mess things up or pay someone to do the work, they just use Blogger. As you can see, Blogger blogs are so easy to make. With just a few clicks… viola! You have your own blog!

Conclusion

There you have it, guys. Five reasons to use Blogger! If you haven’t tried it yet and you have some spare time, why don’t you sign-up for an account now and see if it’s good for you? You’ve got absolutely nothing to lose (well… except for some minutes of your time)!

I know for a fact that sometimes, there are Blogger accounts which are suddenly terminated. I also know that it’s a pain in the butt to transfer to a self-hosted blog especially when you have already established your blog, but Blogger is a commendable service and beginners could sure use a free service like it just to know how it feels like to be a blogger!

I’d like to know if you have more reasons to use Blogger… I’d also be glad if you can share your thoughts about this post. Please feel free to do so by commenting! ;)

How do you keep Adsense from reading Blogspot in your domain?

R.J. What do you mean? If you’re saying that AdSense displays ads which have the word “blogspot”, then I think you can’t do anything but create content-rich posts. AdSense is contextual and will let you serve ads which are related to your blog (and sometimes, the domain is considered).
