Idle DomainsIf you have a lot of unused domain names or are planning to buy some good domains, you might want to see this list and do some of the stuff that I recommend. Why? Because some of the things will help you expose your site and some will even make you money!

Park. By parking your inactive domains, you can make money without too much work. Just use a free domain parking service which allows you to display ads and you’re ready to go. Make sure that your domain gets traffic though. An idle domain which is parked but doesn’t receive any traffic is as useless as trash. Sedo offers a great free domain parking service.

Redirect. Got high-traffic domain names? If you do, redirect them and point them to your main website. By doing this, your site will get traffic, and if you’re lucky, you might even get TARGETED traffic. Misspelled domains can bring a lot of people to your site too. ;)

Hint: If the domain names are related to your site, you have a high chance of getting targeted traffic.

Buy and sell. If you find great domain names which you think have the potential, buy them. After a few months (or years), someone might need those domains and you can sell them for some huge bucks. Expired domains can be useful too, especially if they have a good number of inbound links. You can sell them for a decent amount of money.

Age. Some people are willing to pay a lot for an old domain, so if you have a good one, age it and sell it when you think it is the right time to do so.

Collect and sell in bulk. Some of you might think that this tip is just like buying and selling. No, it is not. My term “collecting and selling in bulk” means that you buy a lot of related domains and sell a number of them to one customer such that he finds it a bargain and yet you obtain a profit from it.

Let’s say that you bought one hundred (100) domains which are car-related (example: carworld.com, carworld.net, carworld.org, carnetwork.com, etc.) for $900, and you sell ten (10) of them to one person for $120. You obtained a profit of $3 per domain, for a total of $30. This is good, and this tip will work best if you plan to sell domains to medium and/or large businesses.

Any domain that i have, i develop. Make it into a weblog. Put Google adsense on it. And fill it 5 times a day with $5 unique 350-450 articles about which ever subject the blog is about.

This makes lots and specially if the blog is stumbled upon and all articles are digged.

Jason: do you actually spend $25 per domain/day just for content? Does it really pay back?
