Ad Placement Tips

Posted by Mike | Filed under Ad Serving

Are you serving ads on your site? If you are, then remove that pride in yourself and show those ads! Don’t hide them in one lonely corner where no one gets the chance to see them, expose them to your visitors so you can earn more money.

You should place your ads where your visitors will most likely see them. Studies show that most surfers tend to look more frequently at the items on the left part of the page than the stuff at the right portion. Also, your visitors will not scroll down to your footer or bottom part of your content area just to see your ads! If they don’t like to read your content any more, they’ll just leave and you’ll miss the chance to gain some revenue.

Text ads (links) in the footer area are not really noticed by most people and are often ignored. Why? Those footer links are so tiny that people won’t bother to click them or even look at them.

It will be best if you blend your ads to your site’s theme and mix them with your content (or put them BEFORE your content) so that your visitors will be able to come across your ads.

I have made a simple image with scores. These scores are ratings for the ad locations. The higher the score, the better the place for your ad units.

Scoring system:

5 - Excellent
4 - Good
3 - Average
2 - Poor
1 - Awful

A friendly reminder: Never ever put your ads where they can never be seen. If you want to earn from your website, then make sure that your ads are visible. Just don’t overdo it — don’t bomb your site with ads that your content is nowhere to be found. :)

Exellent post. Question: Should I start monitizing my blog right now or shold I wait until I get sufficient traffic?
