Now I’m MAD (Well, somewhat…)!

Oh come on, give me a break. Everytime I log in to my blog’s dashboard, I always see comments under “Akisment Spam” and they’re nothing but SPAM (obviously). When would I ever see this without cleaning up the spam comments?

Caught spam

Apparently, most of the spam comments are trackbacks coming from splogs (spam blogs) which copy some parts of my posts and then link to the original post. Some of you might tell me that I should be happy since people are linking to my posts. Well, NO, I won’t be glad! Those are just automated blogs which scrape content from other blogs through RSS. Those blogs’ only purpose is to make cash. That’s it. Period! No one’s benefiting from the blog owner’s actions but himself… and that’s what I really don’t like. I write the posts for you guys to learn something new, and then here they come, copying my content to earn some quick buck! Preposterous!

And there’s something even worse — some of these automated blogs copy the WHOLE article. Because of that, duplicate content issues will arise. Well, sometimes I’m able fix things by commenting on the blog and telling the owner that he’s already plagiarizing. But there are also times when I can’t do anything… well, my article gets posted and my words aren’t enough to tell the auto-blogger to pull down my write-up. Then I just sit here and write another post (and hope that those spammers don’t come back to get me).

There are rare occasions when the worst of the worst things happen… my blog posts get copied, and the post timestamp gets changed as well! Now what? Search engines will think that my content are just duplicates, so there will always be a possibility that this site will be banned from their search results. Talk about plagiarizers’ evilness.

What can I do!?

SplogSpotNow I’m thinking of something that I can do to prevent these splogs to copy my stuff. Currently, I’m using a feed copyrighter plug-in which attaches a copyright message on every delivered feed. It’s working well! I also take time to report those splogs to SplogSpot to help my fellow bloggers.

Guys, please suggest more things that I can do to fight these nasty splogs. I’d highly appreciate it if you can give me ideas!
