Be Productive Even if You’re Out of Blog Ideas!
Posted by Mike | Filed under BloggingI don’t have anything to post… I’m out of ideas!
At a certain point of time, bloggers like us just can’t think of anything to write about. Maybe it’s because a lot of things are running on our minds that everything gets mixed up, or maybe it’s because we are just blank… too blank! Here are some things that you can do to be productive even if you don’t have any fresh ideas coming into your mind. Enjoy! (And don’t forget to leave a comment…)
Publish “Easy-to-Write” Posts
Well… maybe you can make a list. A list that can help people would definitely be great. Something like a list of your recently read blog posts or even a list of the best web hosts in the world… Yep! Just make sure that you will provide an INFORMATIVE list, no nonsense stuff please!
Write something related to your previous posts. This is easy to do. For example, you wrote something about search engine optimization in general. Why don’t you try making a post which is concerning SEO for WordPress or something like that? Drill down, be more specific this time.
Switch the topic. There’s nothing wrong if you change the topic for once! Try to make a post which can let you and your readers get to know each other. Maybe you can post your favorite stuff and ask your readers to send theirs via a comment.
Post pictures/videos. A statistics show-off would be cool, especially if your readers are bloggers/webmasters themselves. Go ahead, post your subscriber or traffic stats for today! A funny video which is related to one of your posts would be awesome, too.
Other Stuff That You Can Do
Brainstorm! Of course, there’s nothing better to do than brainstorm on what to write about. But if you think that you’re getting tired already, it’s best to stop.
Look for guest posters. Other people have magnificent ideas as well, so don’t underestimate them. Look for friendly guest bloggers and kindly ask them if they can make a post for your blog.
Participate in forum discussions. You can gain knowledge by reading threads on forums which interest you. Maybe you can even think of something to blog about after reading some form posts! Also, try to be a proactive member of the forum so that people will give you the respect that you deserve. By doing so, you will have a lot of friends and they can help you by guest posting.
Check your site for broken links. You have to clean up, my friend. You might have some broken links in your blog roll or resources page, go check ‘em out.
Check your AdSense earnings. What can be better than seeing that $100 in your AdSense account? Check it now, you might have earned a lot of money… I’m banned from AdSense! Oops! Sorry to hear that. Well then, check your earnings from other ad/affiliate networks.
Visit others’ blogs through StumbleUpon. This is a great way to learn and have new experiences. Read what others write and hopefully, their advices will be able to improve your blogging style. Leave a comment on their blogs too — that will surely increase your exposure and inbound link count!
Phew! That’s it for now.
Well, if you have any creative ideas to add here, share them with us. Thank you! Watch out for more posts on blogging and other webmaster-related stuff. If you don’t want to miss a single post, subscribe to The WWW Observer’s feed now!
