If you own a website and write articles you have probably used digg.com to promote your work. If you have not, I highly recommend using the digg.com to promote your articles. It is a free and takes seconds to submit your content to potentially thousands of readers. In this article, I will share some tips for using digg.com and give you some insight into their Terms of Service (TOS) so you don’t get banned.

Digg.com - What’s the Big Deal?

Digg.com is a useful site to find popular news articles. Users either “digg” or “undigg” user submitted articles. A digg is a vote of approval/disapproval and each user can vote one time per article. The more diggs an article gets, the higher visibility the article will get. Digg.com is a very popular website, so having an article visible can bring your website a ton of traffic at no cost to you. Digg.com takes only a few seconds to register and it takes less than 1 minute to submit your article. Each article submitted is a great one-way, inbound link. You get traffic and another great link, both great benefits for taking 20 seconds each day to submit your articles!

Terms of Service

If you are not careful you can quickly get banned from digg.com. Submitting too many articles in a short period of time or spamming is a quick way to get banned. You can review the full digg.com TOS (digg calls it a “terms of use”) here. Here are some tips to keep you from getting banned and to use digg.com to your benefit to get tons of free traffic.

  1. Submit unique articles.
  2. Do not submit more than two articles a day. If you submit a lot of articles in a short time digg management may see this as spam.
  3. Do not submit articles with affiliate programs in them. For instance, writing an article about how great Netflix is and having a Netflix affiliate code in your article. Digg may see this as spam! Here is what they do NOT want to see: “affiliate programs, multi-level marketing schemes, sites/blogs repurposing existing stories (source hops), or off-topic content”
  4. Act like a responsible adult! Swearing and acting like a kid is a easy way to get banned and all of your content removed.

I recommend taking 20 minutes to read the full TOS. The benefit of using digg each day to promote your articles is great and you should consider digg.co, a long-term traffic source.

Digg traffic is useless unlike Its linky benefits. You will find your bounce rate at around 100% when you end up on the front page.

Personally I use Digg only for faster indexing :). Try to digg your newly created page and you will find that your new page usually will get indexed by G within 24 hours, it works for me.
