The eBook market is a thing that evokes quite a range of emotions in those attempting to make money online… some hate eBooks and those that write them with a passion while others find themselves purchasing a new one every single day.

I myself am a proficient eBook writer, although I’ve recently decided to move into the membership website niche… this post is to assess the situation, and help you dominate the eBook market with your own high quality product.

Why eBook sellers have a bad reputation these days

In the past, you only used to get high quality… people took hours, if not days to compile their own reports and distributed them at an affordable price, one which many could afford and nearly everyone was helped by. The eBook market has taken a hit in recent years mainly due to the influx of poor quality – everyone saw how easy it seemed to profit with them, and a lot of shoddily written and poorly explained products started flooding the market.

We saw eBooks that were written by people unable to string a coherent sentence together, and worse eBooks written by people who had never made a cent off the methods they pushed… no wonder eBooks started getting a bad name and being bashed at every turn.

You can make a lot of money with eBooks (I personally made around $4,000 in three weeks with a product of my own) however you cannot (and should not!) expect to start accumulating cash with a load of rubbish.

My personal motto is undersell and over-deliver – something that anyone looking to get into the eBook game should do. By underselling, you should not make the common hyped up claims like most eBooks in the industry and only state what is possible – possible meaning that you yourself have tried it, and it works.

Providing competent after sale support and an extremely competitive price are two examples of over-delivering… and when people see quality once from you, they’ll be happy to become repeat customers.

If you are going to write an eBook of your own, make sure it is something you are well versed in… this will not only show in your product (people cannot explain something well if they don’t have experience at it) but also in the speed and clarity of your answers should any of your buyers have questions.

The best thing about eBooks is that you need nothing to start off with, just Microsoft Word and your fingers on the keyboard… good luck with putting together your own product. :)

Alright, Jug here… the exams are all done, so I guess I’ll be back here to provide you with more content and entertainment. I’m going to take a rest for a while, so expect me to be back next week. See you soon guys, don’t you go anywhere else!

Nice one. Good post Jason. I’m now thinking of writing my own e-books, now where to start… let’s see… something about mobile phones, perhaps? Would anyone even buy my e-book about mobile phones? What do you think guys?

Same as Yuhu…I think I am interested to do it as this need only Microsoft Word and finger to type. It should be easy to start…

I don’t believe in ebooks now. They are full of affiliate links.

I couldn’t agree more. You have to be really careful and decisive now when you want to purchase an ebook; way to much garbage.

There’s nothing wrong with some (some, not hundreds) links in FREE ebooks as long as they’re relevant.

What really irks me is when they sell it for 50 bucks or whatever AND load it up with links…that’s just wrong.

Dennis: Yeah, there are some crappy e-books that sell for $50+. Sucks like hell, I must say. At DP (digital point forums), I have NEVER seen an e-book that was worth the money. Jeez..

@Jug So true. The ebook deals at DP are absolute crap!

“Learn how to make $1,000 in 24 hours”? “How I make $500/day through AdSense”? Those ebook titles don’t attract me anymore. Why bother selling an e-book for $37 or something if you’re earning thousands? Go and make your BIG business prosper even more. Don’t waste time in selling “small time” ebooks!

there are some ebooks like earn 1million in 2 hours. lol.
why that guy is selling it then ?

Really insightful post. Nice one, Jason. Anyway, looking forward to Jug’s “great comeback”. I just subscribed to TW3O this month and I’ve been reading the posts. A+ quality I must say!

I am not very active in internet marketing since I’m still a newbie, so I’ve decided to learn first before doing anything *stupid*. :)

Generally, I stray away from ebooks. There are already too many ebooks, most not up to the standard people seek.

There are too many ebooks these days and when i think to write one, i get the thought “Will people really care about it?”
