There are many ways of promoting your website — online traffic programs, web forums, instant messaging and more. There are web promotion techniques which are better than others, and I will talk about them in this post.

Newsletters, bulletins and e-mails can reach a lot of targeted audiences. There are many methods on how to use these things to your advantage. You can write one article and send it to a lot of people, let your friends spread the word or hire someone to do the work for you (this costs some money).

Tips on How to Write a Good Promotional Message

Keep it short and clear. To attract people to visit your website, your message should be organized, well-written and concise. Also remember that you are trying to get the attention of impatient web surfers so be sure that your message is straightforward and to the point. Writing 3000-word essays is a no-no. ;)

You MUST sound like a professional. You’re promoting your site, something that you’ve worked hard for. So do yourself a favor and don’t embarrass yourself. Always proofread your writings since typos, misspellings and grammatical errors will kill your promotional message. The moment that a person sees that typo, I’m 99% sure that they will not read further.

Let your audience reach you. Provide a contact number or an e-mail address so that they can contact you for some clarifications (in case your message was complicated). They might have some questions regarding your product and would like to ask you directly, so please don’t make it hard for them.

Newsletters/Bulletins

Newsletters and bulletins usually have a massive amount of readers. You can use these to heavily promote your website, but you have to use them right.

You can join newsgroups and social networking sites to send some newsletters and bulletins to hundreds or even thousands of targeted prospects. Be sure that you join the right group because you might be sending your message to the wrong persons! For instance, kids won’t be interested in job offers, and elderly people won’t be interested in video games.

E-mails

E-mails can send your website a lot of traffic if the recipients are highly targeted. You may send your promotional message to your friends and ask them to forward it to other people who share the same interests, but don’t make it a chain letter. Do not force the receivers to send it to other people by threatening them that something bad will happen if they don’t forward it. That’s just plain stupid and you will be disrespected.

You may also collect the e-mail addresses of the targeted audiences, but please ask them first if they would like to receive promotional messages/solicitations from you. Otherwise, you might be reported as a spammer and most likely a lot of people will block your e-mail address.

Notes and Reminders

A friendly reminder: When sending newsletters, bulletins and/or e-mails, please be guided by the tips above. Do not construct spam messages and then send them to a lot of uninterested people.
