Finally, A PageRank Update!

Posted by Mike | Filed under Google

Yay! Everyone’s happy!

Yesterday, they were so hyper and crazy over PR. Now, it seems that everyone on Digital Point Forums is so happy. Google has just “officially” updated our sites’ PR, and most new sites got a PR boost. Several PR0 websites went up to PR3 and some even to PR4 — this means that webmasters will experience an increase in their earnings (especially those who… you know… sell links  ). Though there are some whose sites got a PR drop, this update is mostly a positive one.

PageRank

Here are some threads on DP which talks about the update that just took place.

Oh and hey, The WWW Observer got a PR3! Not that I’m obsessed with PR, I just would like to share what this blog achieved. :)

So who got a PR drop?

There are many speculations that sites which have paid links have been penalized by Google. Massive PR drops were given, and mostly directories and sites which serve Text Link Ads were affected. Well, even John Chow dropped to PR4! Many TLA users report that their sites got an increase though, so I don’t think that link selling is the reason for the drop. It might just be a backlink count decrease or something.

A lot of people changed their impression on Google, too!

Yesterday, people were saying that “Google is killing our sites” and similar things like “There’s nothing happening but PR drops!” because of… well, massive PR reductions. Today, people are saying that “Google is my best friend!” because they got a big increase in their sites’ PageRank. Oh well… guess our minds really change a lot.

So guys…!

Let me ask you this question: Did your website get a PR drop or did your PR go up? Let me know, just leave a comment! Thanks again…

P.S. This blog’s getting a redesign real soon! Watch out for it, we will have advertising bargains for everyone!

I got a PR drop from PR5 to PR4. I don’t think much of PR though as I mainly promote my site not for the PR benefits but for the traffic benefits. Although it did drop, my competitors dropped quite a bit as well and in my favor infact. In other words my main 2 competitors had shown the following changes:

One went from PR4 to PR3 and the other went from a high of PR6 down to PR3.

So as you can see although I had a drop, I now have a better PR than them both.

I got a PR update today also.

Went from PR0 to PR3. I was so happy :) No one else seemed to care much though.

Several of my sites lost PR due to inactivity, and all the speculations about the directories is correct, Google fine-tuned the PageRank algorithm to more accurately reflect the PR of directories / linklists.

I’m glad to see that someone got some PR boost during this new update. My blog got hammered with a 2 point drop!

One of my sites went from PR0, to having:
    (7) x PR4
    (14) x PR3
    (35) x PR2

Lots of my other sites increased as well. God bless google!

Wow, that’s a lot Collin. Congrats!

MillionDollarJourney: Sorry to hear that! Hope that you’ll get a PR boost next time!

TYPELiFE: Yeah, that’s quite sad for the directory owners now…

    Nick: Good job! :)

Egyptian: Did you try to use PR checkers to see if your site got a boost or not?

Affiliate Seeking: I don’t care too much about PR. It’s just that some advertisers prefer sites with high PR. That’s good news then. Did you get better SE rankings than your competitors or did your rank stay the same?

My Site went from PR0 to PR3. I was fairly happy with the recent update, however my other main site remained unchanged.

I personally believe PR is unsignificant in terms of traffic + earnings because there are PR5 sites out there that earn much less than quality PR4 or below domains.

However, I did add my new updated site to TLA. Hopefully I can increase that income source by $100 or so.

I’m really happy because I move from Blogger to self-hosted WordPress just a month ago. I went from a PG3 (on Blogger), to a PG0 (first days on WP)… to a PG4 ! Woohoo!

My site didn’t go up or down… it stayed at 0, haha!

I think the little scare in PR will have advertisers looking factors other than PR. I think selling links/ads will not depend on PR as much as it did. Google got their point across.

Tarik: Wow, cool! Good luck with TLA!

Zhu: That’s nice to hear. You’ve got a great blog!

Niknar: Aww… maybe the new backlinks weren’t exported yet. Anyway, hope for the best next update!

Martin: Right you are! I think the advertisers will now look for high-quality sites with lots of potential customers, regardless of the PR.
