Google Adsense Channels
Posted by Mike | Filed under Google AdsenseAlmost everyone who owns a websites has used or still uses Google AdSense. AdSense still provides webmasters the easiest and in many cases the best way to serve ads on your website and make money. Making money is one thing, but knowing exactly which websites or what parts of your website are earning the most amount of money or have the best Click Through Rates (CTR) is important. Too often I see webmasters not taking the time to use Google Channels to figure out what ads and/or what sites are performing the best. Typically, webmasters are just content to earn money.
Google AdSense Channels offer AdSense users the opportity to break out their AdSense earnings based on each position you have the Adsense code on your website. Webmasters are permitted to have AdSense on three parts of any webpage. For example, it is common to have a leaderboard or 468-wide horizontal banner in your header at the top of your site, a 720 pixel long sky scaper on the side and another ad either at the top or bottom of your articles. These are high earning spots and very common. The key to breaking out which of these ad spots are performing best is to use Google Adsense Channels when creating your ads. When creating your ads simply create a new channel in step 3.
After you add the channel and add the AdSense code to your website you will begin to break out the channels or ad positions on your site. If you have several sites channels are a must to see exactly what sites are performing better than others.
Benefits of using Google AdSense Channels
- You will know what ad spots are earning the most and least. The ad spots that are earning the least you should consider replacing with CPC advertisers or those that pay based on 1,000 impressions and not clicks
- You will know what sites perform better than others. If you don’t use channels and have several sites you will not know what sites are performing better. The sites that are performing bad you may want to consider another ad source
- The ads that have a high CTR you may want to consider switching out with affiliate programs that pay out high commissions. For example, there are affiliates that pay $100+ per sign up. If you are getting a lot of clicks, but not earning a lot you may want to risk it and replace the AdSense ads with an affiliate program that is relevant to your site and pays out high commission rates.
