How to Choose the Right Web Host

Posted by Mike | Filed under Web Hosting

Are you planning to start a new website? Have you got a lot of ideas for your upcoming site, but unfortunately, you don’t know where to host it? After you read this post, you will have knowledge on how to choose the right web hosting service for you.

Before I give you the tips, here are some things that you must be aware of:

  • The success of your site depends on YOU and YOUR HOST. If your site is always down because of the host, your (site’s) goal will never be accomplished.
  • There are some web hosts that have some company conflicts and legal issues, so do a thorough research on a host before patronizing it.

Okay, I’m done with the warnings. Ready for the tips? Here they are!

Know what you need. You don’t have to avail of a web hosting service which offers 1,000GB of space if you’re just going to use the site as a mini-gallery and put 100 pictures of yourself. Don’t waste money for services that you don’t need; know which plan offers the things that you require.

Research before you make a purchase. As I said, there are web hosts which have some legal issues, company conflicts and some even have a very bad reputation. Before sign-up for a host, read some reviews and see if most of the customers are satisfied with the service. Check if the customer support team is fast, and be sure that the servers are reliable. If not, then search for another web host. You must also find out if the host suspends accounts for no reason at all — this information will help you determine whether the host is the best one (especially for long-term hosting services).

Check the host’s rates. It doesn’t necessarily mean that if a host has expensive plans, theirs are the best ones. There are some affordable hosts which give you an abundant amount of great features plus a very good support team for only a few dollars per month. On the other hand, there are also hosts which may charge you up to a hundred bucks a month, but their servers’ uptime is crappy. Choose the most practical host and go for it.

I think I’m done… if you have anything else to add here, please leave a comment. Thanks!

P.S. If you ask me what host is the most advantageous, it would be Bluehost since they only charge $6.95/month and the features are great. Plus, the customer service is AWESOME.

you should look to see how many e-mail accounts they provide.

Also, if you intend to use shared hosting then be aware that you need to know if you can allow add-on domains aswell.
