I’m Not a Spammer, Let Me Comment!
Posted by Mike | Filed under BloggingI just hate it when I come across a blog, find a great post that makes me want to comment and then see this:

Would you look at that… a big fat “YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO POST A COMMENT”… Sheesh! I just don’t get it. Why do some bloggers have to ask everyone to register and log-in just to post a simple comment?
All we want to do is leave a comment on your post, not spam your blog like crazy or something. And even if we did want to spam your blog, you can always turn on the “moderate comments” option so that you can choose which comments you would like to appear. Plus, your best friend Akismet (or your favorite anti-spam plug-in) is always there to help you.

I’d like to say something to those guys who give us a hard time (by requiring registration and logging in): Don’t expect a lot of comments if you want to keep your blog that “secured”. I would also like to ask you the reason why you do this. Pardon me, I just don’t really get it.
To everyone else who allow people to comment without registration and other frustrating stuff, thank you very much for trusting your readers that they won’t bomb your blog with spam comments.

I’ve made a similar rant on my own blog…
I agree 100%. Whenever I come across a site like that my first thought is:
“Um, what’s so special about this site that you have to register in order to comment?”
My next thought is: “See ya, I’m off to other sites that don’t require registration.”
I always wonder if those site owners pay attention to their comment numbers. I’m sure the number of comments decreased after they enabled registration.
When I see that I feel like they’re saying, “We have an exclusive club. You’re not part of our exclusive club. Go away, you’re not wanted here.”
Blogger just changed the blogs to where you can’t even choose OTHER now.
it’s annoying!
To tell you the truth, I also doubt as for moderating comments. I would eagerly participate and share my thoughts, but my 2 cents appear only after 24 hours… I would rather use captcha or spamcarma…
Some blogs require registration to comment, but do not allow new user registrations (and they expect new comments).
Now if someone does that to his blog, he deserves to be called an idiot.
