Link Building FAQs - 4th Batch
Posted by Mike | Filed under Link BuildingHurray! It’s the fourth batch of Link Building FAQs. People have sent questions which are about link development and I’m answering them right here, right now. Let’s not make this post long, let’s start!
Link Building FAQs
Q: Why are some “free” directories not free? They’re listed on free sites but they want to charge me $29.95 when I try to submit!
A: Well, I think that’s because those directories were free before but they have become paid directories after some time. Some of the possible reasons for switching to a paid directory are as follows:
- The directory owner only offered limited spots for the free listings.
- The directory owner thought that the directory will be very profitable.
Q: What are blog networks? Are links from them worth it?
A: A blog network is simply a group of blogs which is owned by a person (or a group of people). Sometimes, they are on different C-Class IPs, while sometimes, they’re on the same C-Class IPs. Links from them are worth buying if the blog network has a good number of blogs in your niche, and if the blogs are well-maintained. It is also good to check whether they are in one IP or not. If they are, then think twice before getting links.
Q: Do signature links on forums really count as backlinks?
A: It depends. If the links have the nofollow attribute, then they don’t count as backlinks. Simple as that.
Q: Is DMOZ still alive? I submitted my site ages ago but it is still not listed!
A: Yep, it’s alive, but there might not be editors to review your site. Or maybe your site was just rejected. Here’s a tip when submitting to DMOZ: Submit only once and forget about it. If you’re lucky, your site will get in. If you’re not… then you’re not. Sorry about that!
