On a Link Buying Spree? Don’t Waste Your Money on These!

Are you fond of buying links from large website/blog networks? You better think first before going on a link buying spree, because some links are not as valuable as you think they are. I will list some links from certain types of sites that, in my opinion, must not be bought, so that you will be guided in purchasing links.
Here are the sources of links that you should NOT consider:
Word clouds - Links from these sites are TRASH. The sites do not contain any content, thus the links are not valuable. For more information about word clouds, read this post.
Directories with no/low number of indexed pages - These directories are just one of thousands of web directories in the net. Before buying links from a directory, make it a habit to check for the number of indexed pages and for their backlinks. A cheap link on a directory which is not indexed is not worth spending for because it will not benefit you, unless the directory owner is starting to build a massive amount of links (in this case, it will be beneficial for you to buy a link for a low price).
Made for AdSense sites - Some sites with no original content at all are called MFA (Made for AdSense) sites. The webmasters focus on earning money through AdSense, thus the content are not high-quality and are usually from article directories. Do not buy links from these since the inbound links that you will get are not worth the investment. If the site gets banned from Google, your money is wasted.
Sites which are not updated - If you’re planning to buy a link from a site which had its last update last 2005 (or similar to this), don’t even think about purchasing. Most probably, no new visitors browse the site and it seldom gets visits from its old readers.
Totally unrelated sites - If your site is about dogs, don’t buy links from a site which deals with mathematics. The link that you will get is not of high quality, and you’d be better off spending that money on some strong directory listings. You won’t get profitable visitors from unrelated websites too, since the focus of your site and the other site’s topics are not relevant. Plus, a link to a dog site from a math site would really look peculiar (and is not really worth it), unless you can guarantee that ALL math-oriented people are dog lovers who find dog-related website worth the visit.
P.S. If you can prove to me that all people who are interested in math are dog lovers, please e-mail it straight to my mailbox so I can edit this post…
