calendarYesterday marked the start of a one week vacation from school. After the vacation, we’ll be taking the final exams for the year (yay!) and officially have our summer break. I told myself a week ago that during the vacation, I would focus on reviewing for the exams and be very productive by finishing at least one project each day. I was supposed to finish one task yesterday, but I never started. I was procrastinating for like nine (9) to ten (10) hours! I can’t believe I wasted so much time!

Before I slept last night, I promised myself that I would do at least ONE academic thing today. Well, I did, but I’m still not contented because of what happened yesterday. I’m planning to finish at least three school requirements today, and I hope I won’t be struck by the evil spirit of procrastination in me. :P

Dollar sign on a clockNow, what does this have to do with making money online? Well, it’s simple, really. Some great opportunities rarely come, and when you let them pass, they probably won’t come back again. For example, you received an offer of $90 to write and publish a well-researched article on your fairly new blog. You were given a deadline, too. Don’t just sit there, think about the money, then tell yourself that you’ll write it later. If you do this, you would end up publishing NOTHING on the deadline. Of course, you wouldn’t get that $90 too. Research now so that you can come up with an excellent write-up!

Let me give you another example. A web designer was asked to come up with a unique design within a week for $500. The wireframe given by the client was pretty complex, but it was possible for the designer to create a design. Instead of trying out different color schemes, styles, and techniques, the designer just kept thinking that the design would be so hard to finish, so he decided to do the job at a later time. Days passed and he had not submitted a single design concept to the client. The client got fed up and looked for another web designer.

Well, that was a wasted chance to earn money. He deferred the job until his opportunity to earn was lost.

successProcrastination should never be an option if you really want to attain success — it’s either you do something related to your task or you do your task. Procrastinating will just hinder you from reaching your goals! Don’t give way to some “lazy moments” like staring blankly on your monitor. Accomplish what you must as soon as time allows you to do so. Always be productive and creative. By doing so, you’re sure to be successful!

I guess that’s it for today. I really have to finish a lot of things. And no, I won’t procrastinate today. No, no, no. I’m currently fighting the evil spirit of procrastination right now, so yeah… good luck to me! As I said, I finished one project already. After I finish the others, it’s time for me to review for the exams. Ciao, don’t go anywhere.

A great post from you, as always. Good luck with the exams Juggler! Do your best, and stop procrastinating! It’s going to send you cramming on the day before the exams. Trust me. ;)

Yuhu: I know, right? I can see myself rushing to finish the projects AND reading my notes on Sunday if I don’t stop being a procrastinator. Guess I should start as soon as I finish eating my lunch!

While procastination is often seen as being a bad habit, there are some good points to it. Procastination allows you to change your priorities, to perhaps something more important at the point of time.

Just do it. When I’m trying to work on a project, I’m constantly distracted by the web. I then have to just make myself do it and take small breaks to check my email.

Procrastination IS never an option if you really want to attain success!
You need to get that backside in motion if you want to be a success. The first key is to Decide! Once you make a decision - something that 98 percent of the people out there have a problem doing - then you can get going. Decide that you are going to be a success and then make sure you do at least one thing everyday to move forward towards the completion of those goals. I really like this blog and am going to add this feed to my list. Great Job…

I recently did a blog on procrastination - perhaps something that can help you and your readers?

So true. Eveyone is taught in the school what you can do today should not be left behind for tomorrow. But we see so many people who procrastinate!

Do well on your exams, very important!!! Procrasnation doesn’t get you anywhere!!

  9. Juggler said: 21st March, 2008 at 5:42 pm

Danandmarsh: Yeah, I’d certainly do well. Thanks!

Ben: Cool post, thanks for that. ;)

Sam2k: Yeah, me too. I can’t do my tasks because I’m freakin’ in front of my monitor. :P

    Multippt: Good point…

Meethere: Haha, don’t worry, I never failed an exam even if I didn’t study. Only problem is I don’t get the coveted “top 1 spot” if I don’t review. That’s what I’m trying to avoid right now.

@Diabetes Blog Yes, many people procrastinate. I don’t know why tho. I myself procrastinate at times especially when I am not sure how to do a certain thing. Do you still call that procrastination?

@Juggler Wow, you ARE intelligent! Good for you.

@Benny Greenberg Hello, I like your blog. I’m subscribing to it. Thank you for the wonderful post.

@Meethere Heyyy! I’m not spamming. And I think Jug has Akismet.

@Jug “Some great opportunities rarely come, and when you let them pass, they probably won’t come back again.” That’s one nice saying right there. Should teach the people who take great offers for granted a serious lesson!

Make a schedule will lessen procrastination. especially when you see that your schedule is beginning to clog your day. you’ll have to finish them! or just throw away the schedule…LOL :p

  17. Louis Liem said: 21st March, 2008 at 10:17 pm

    @yuhu
some great opportunities do not come back again, but i believe that greater ones will come. still, it’s no reason to procrastinate :)
once you make it a habit to lose a chance, you’ll never get one for the rest of yur life and you can blame nobody for that

  18. Juggler said: 21st March, 2008 at 10:24 pm

Louis Liem: I tried making a schedule several times. Never followed them. Maybe it’s just that I lack discipline. Ah well… I use a to-do list, and I’m happy that I can at least be organized. Three items left! One item is a very, very tedious task though.

  19. Meethere said: 21st March, 2008 at 11:08 pm

@yuhu - dont take it seriously, just kidding. :) I think I have to give up - tough competitors there. :(

It’s only procrastination if you intend to do something you don’t want to and don’t. So if you just don’t intend to do it in the first place you’ll never have to be a procrastinator. Problem solved.

There is no short cut way to success, esspecially with proscrastination.
