Minimize Your Online Expenses… Now!
Posted by Mike | Filed under Make Money OnlineHi, what’s up? You probably thought that I was going to leave you guys for good, eh? Nah… can’t do that. Anyway, as you may know, school’s out so I’ve been trying out lots of different things. I tried some online games, experimented with different money making methods, and of course I started to plan some online projects.
As I was playing an MMORPG (that’s massively multiplayer online role-playing game) a while ago, I was thinking about how I could save up some in-game money so that I could buy some cool equipment. I was deep in thought, then I suddenly realized that a lot of people (particularly the ones who are making a living through the internet) are spending too much online! Some are even spending more money than what they make. That’s just… ridiculous. I thought that everyone should minimize online expenses and save more money.
Why Save?
This is probably a common question. A lot of people have asked me, “Why are you saving money? Why don’t you spend? You can’t take your money with you when you die anyway,” Well, I save because I want to be prepared for unexpected circumstances. Another reason is that I want to buy more valuable things. I don’t want to waste $100 to buy something that I would throw away after a month!
Another thing that I’d like all of you to keep in mind: If you save, you would realize that you’re “making more money”. Why? Because your account balance will be higher!
It can be said that it’s just self-deception, but yeah. You’ll be happier if you save. That’s the bottom line.
Tips to Minimize Online Expenses
Some of us really want to save/minimize our expenses, but we just can’t resist the temptation of buying things — especially when we’re purchasing online. You all know that signing in to PayPal is as easy as Pi, right!? So… Here are tips that can hopefully help you to minimize your online expenses.
1. Think twice a lot of times before you spend. Saw a $675 shirt for sale on eBay? Before you buy it, think first. Analyze the situation. Do you really need a new shirt? Or do you want to buy it ‘just because’? If it’s the latter, then better not spend your $675 for it.
2. Always keep in mind that earning is NOT easy. Sure, there are people out there who are pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars per month, but they didn’t attain success just like that. They exerted much effort — there’s no express way to riches!
By thinking that making money is not easy, you will always have second thoughts before you spend your money.
3. Look for bargains. If you really want to buy a certain thing, say, a mug, then look for a cheap one (but of course, consider the quality). You don’t have to settle for high-end stuff to be cool, ya know. In fact, there are cheap things that are of high-quality. Don’t let that price tag deceive you.
4. Don’t think of your money too much. Based from my experiences, the more that you think of your money, the more that you would want to spend it. I try to stay away from thoughts about cash and shopping to avoid unnecessary online expenditures.
5. Stop browsing eBay, Amazon, and other online shops too frequently. If you’d really want to save your money, then don’t browse those online shops! You would only be tempted to sign in to PayPal or to get your credit card if you do.
6. Look for the stuff you want in “the real world”. Do you REALLY want to minimize your online expenses? Then you should find what you want to buy at shopping malls and local stores, unless they’re digital goods. No need to buy from Amazon.com if you’d want a brand new paperback. I’m pretty sure that it’s available in the nearest bookstore. It’s probably in the local library too!
One more thing about those online shops. I think only the second hand stuff are cheap in there.
That’s just my personal opinion, do share your views on this topic by leaving a comment.

Great post! It will help the shop-a-holics out there. Now I’m wondering if you are a shop-a-holic or not. Are you?
And by the way Jug, I’m NOT yet over with you, regarding your April Fools joke.
Wait for my e-mail, it’s cominggggggg!
Dude, I’m kinda getting bored waiting for that e-mail. What’s taking you so long?
Anyway, thanks for the positive comment.
To everyone: It’s April. Hurray! As I said in the post, you guys better subscribe (if you haven’t yet) as there are some things that can’t be seen just by using a web browser.
Subscribers, you should be feeling lucky. Something revolutionary’s going to happen.
I don’t want saving money
I love spending especially when I have spare bucks. HAHA.. Spending and shopping is fun!
Hussein: That’s just great. Now you will have to learn some lessons the hard way!
Anyway, thanks for leaving your thoughts.
Man, I’m so bored right now. Might as well brainstorm for tomorrow’s post.
I would spend only for necessary things if it’s online and mostly for electronics stuff. Clothes, I would never ever buy online and never from ebay but yes, I like amazon; Specially watches section
Next tie you start a MMORPG game use your domain name as your nickname. It works a treat especially if you spend long hours playing.
By the way, I just came across Barnes and Noble and since we can pay with PayPal with that, I think you should warn people! They can spend all their $$$ in their PP account in B&N.
Yuhu: I actually bought a lot of stuff from Barnes and Noble. Now I’m avoiding the site because I spent $150+ in just one day there! Seriously, I thought I was going to drain my PayPal balance. But good thing I was able to resist the temptation.
I agree that saving money online is so dang hard. Click-spend! Oops Click-spend! To bad I don’t do the same with the bills. Tanks for the reality check in your post.
Nice thought…Saving is important as spending is easier than earning. Some people cannot hold their self from buying when they see a good stuff.
@Affiliate and Jane Yeah saving is hard to do but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be fine. LOL.
@Jug Oh! That’s a big hit in your pocket! You better stay away from BN.com if you want to have money in that paypal account. Just curious though. What did you buy from BN.com?
Affiliate AMT Blog: No prob mate.
See ya around!
Jane: Instead of “some”, make that “most”. Seriously, people HAVE to stop spending all their money! We have to build up our “shopping resistance”!
Yuhu: I bought Michael Palmer’s “The Fifth Vial” since my classmate recommended it. We’re actually aspiring doctors, ya know. But not really, I’d want to be an entrepreneur. I also got a lot of random stuff aside from The Fifth Vial.
You don’t wanna know what they are. They’re just too random.
Hi everybody…I’m back :)…Hope every one has forgot my last stupidity :).
@ Yuhu : Yeah me too still learning to save better till now.
@ Jug : I didn’t go to Andromeda, just hiding under my bed cover
Anyway, once again you are right… Most is the proper word cause I’m include to it :). Btw, next time I’ll be more careful reading your post in April. I’ve learned :)…
Jane: LOL. It was April Fools’ last Tuesday so everyone was expected to fall for at least something.
I didn’t think it was stupid of you guys to fall for my joke, don’t worry.
Hey thanks for such a useful thoughts. Seriously speaking you have maintained your blog.
I am saving as much as possible and $675, I will buy in dreams lol. Shirts are cheap here in India…….I mean everything is cheap here except electronics…
My main aim is to save as much right now. Lot of life is left now. Save and invest…spend the returns of the investment..cool idea? :p
@ Jane, spending is much easier..haha!
You can spend all of your monthly income in an hour or two…. but earning takes the whole month.
There is my cousin, spends all…no savings…right now is fine..later can be a problem
I rarely spend money online. That’s because I do not have that much money online.
