Small Stable Income VS Instant Riches
Posted by Mike | Filed under Internet Marketing, Make Money Online
Ever wonder how many people are dreaming of getting rich by doing internet marketing? Instant riches are no longer just a dream, anyone having decent web knowledge could possibly strike the jackpot with a killer idea! However, not every Tom, Ben, and Harry can have killer ideas every day of the week.
Do not despair though, you can still be rich by building your fortune gradually. Remember that Rome was not built in a single day! If you really want to get rich, you should stop procrastinating and start working on your internet marketing plan. It is alright to start small, a steady stream of income will eventually accumulate into quite a fortune. After all, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. If you were to do nothing, waiting for the killer idea, you could end up wasting your life, living a poor existence.
Like we all know, all businesses come with certain risks. If you were targeting instant riches, chances are that you need to put in quite a substantial investment before you can see the returns. The returns are not even guaranteed, in online businesses your money may be reduced to ashes faster than you can possibly imagine. How much money will you be able to invest in your killer idea (which might not be so killer after all!)? Shouldn’t you start smaller instead? If you are willing to set your initial targets lower, you can start your business right away by spending almost next to nothing. Selling something on eBay only requires a free account, while setting up a domain and webhosting of your own may costs as little as $50 per year. Such budget is well within the limits of many individuals, and you can start to build your empire immediately instead of trying to accumulate like $5000 or more just for the initial investment into a killer idea.
Another benefit of starting your own small business is that it is your own! Many people who want to be rich online are trying to sell their affiliate products and gain referrals. Undeniably, affiliate programs are paying very good commissions and referral benefits. However, these affiliate companies are actually using your skills and brand to promote their products or services, why don’t you make the effort to fly higher and promote your own business instead? With your own business, you can be assured of a steady income, whether your business prosper or not, it depends on how much effort you put into it and based on the monthly growth, you can plan for further expansion. On the other hand, if you were to put all your effort into promoting other people’s businesses, you will sink together with them if something goes wrong such as deterioration of product or service quality or revising of affiliate and referral commission policy which are quite common.
It is more stable to build your business on a solid product or service, rather than jumping onto the bandwagon and promoting the in-thing which may only last for a few months. You can be assured of continuous stable income if you were to sell software, physical products, web design and content creation services. Refrain from investing in “get rich quick” programs, which ask you to buy the membership or product first, and then promise you the opportunity to resell it to other people to make millions from it. How can you be sure that you will be able to resell it? You should concentrate instead on building up your brand continuously, providing good quality “real products” to customers and gain their trust which will be invaluable in the long run.
Did I mention that you have to make great investment to even have the slightest chance to be rich quickly? Many people have decent ideas of making money online, but they have insufficient knowledge and experience to turn their business ideas into success. A shortcut for them will be to spend money on buying success, such as paying for exorbitant reviews from John Chow, buying links as well as advertising on AdWords. These promotions, if done correctly, will probably just make you considerable money, but if done incorrectly, there goes your money, you just burnt a hole in your pocket for nothing. Go and start building your small business instead, you can take the time to learn many new trades as your business expands slowly but stably. At least you don’t have to fork out $500 upfront to promote your affiliate products through AdWords without really knowing what keywords and audience to target!

It is a fact that not everyone can be rich instantly through internet marketing. Most people are earning money from the rich internet by working hard, trying to expand their small businesses gradually. However, this article does not try to discourage you from attaining riches through your unique ideas, if you think you have a good idea, by all means, go for it! You might want to give that business idea a solid base though, and start it small, within your own limits. You certainly don’t want to quit your day job before earning a 5 figures income. You don’t go about burning your bridges behind you before you are assured of reaching the opposite shore!
What do you think about this matter? Are you patient enough to build up a small business into an empire? Are there any ways to attain riches with just a small investment which won’t burn your back if they fail?
P.S. Hey… So I just wanted to let you know that tomorrow’s gonna be the last day of exams. Hurray! You’re going to read more stuff from me starting next week.

yes you are right.
slow and steady wins the race.
Nice article
You sure are a fast reader, Meethere. Just posted the article a few minutes ago.
Good to know that you agree with the article though.
Great post Juggler. Though if you want to earn big, you have to risk big… but as you said, on the net your money can pop like a bubble, so you have to be careful. I agree that one should start small and have a stable revenue than invest on “get rich quick” schemes *cough* money magnet? *cough*
Yuhu, why did you have to remind me of Money Magnet!? Too bad they switched to AlertPay… I can’t get my 30 bucks back since I don’t want to go through the hassle of creating an AlertPay account.
Anyway, it’s nice to know that you liked the post as well.
See ya around guys. I can’t really stay here and watch your comments since I still have another exam tomorrow (French). Au revoir, mes amis!
lol. no I am not a fast reader..
Best of luck for 2morrow.
Think BIG, start SMALL! If you’re a noob, it’ll be very wise to start small. People who start something new will fail most of the time, if you start small, your loss will be more acceptable.
I have my own thoughts about promoting your own business instead of being an affiliate.
Creating your own product and selling your own product are two DIFFERENT things. Some people good at innovating things, but their marketing skills suck. Some are good at selling stuff but they don’t have many ideas to create a problem solver. Some are good at both.
So promoting other people’s business and getting comission is not that ugly. If they chose to do both, they may get nothing at all.
Yeah I agree…An instant riches usualy comes with bigger risk. I prefer with small but stable income.
Thanks for the responses guys.
Has anyone out there tried the get rich quick stuff and failed? Just curious.
Hi Juggler…I thought you won’t be here until 28 March. I wish you luck with all your exam.
yep. I did. some failed and some made me money. so basically i get nothing of it. I should’ve stopped when I doubled my money, but easy come easy go, as always…
Jane: Now I’m back.
Hurray! Haha, I’ll post more stuff next week, kinda need some rest today.
Louis Liem: At least that’s a lesson learned. Good luck with your endeavors.
Yeah I always take several day of rest after passing through tough days…I’ll wait to read your post next week.
Woops! Almost fell for an offer - they said I can make $1,000 in a week by just signing up and paying $100 (that’s 900% profit!). Good thing I’m not foolish enough.
Great post Juggler.
Both have their good points. If instant riches can be put into improving your stable income, then I’ll go for instant riches first, then finally stable income.
I don’t like the Instant Riches option, would always better stick up with the slow stable small income which has a good future with the normal rate.
@Chetan - would you suggest some slowly earning income sources - via online ?
Awesome article. Start small, watch your wallet, grow at a decent pace and you will be golden. Growing too fast can be painful also
Ands yes, many moons ago I may have fallen for a scam or 2
