There were many webmasters who sold links in their sites, and there were also people who bought links for PR. Now that Google is penalizing sites which have paid links scattered all over their pages, what will the future of text link brokers (like Text Link Ads) be?

I’m pretty sure that webmasters whose sites are affected (as long as SERPs are concerned) will stop using TLA and similar programs. People who are still buying links for PR will probably stop sooner or later because of the following reasons:

  1. 1. The lack of link sellers
  2. 2. There’s no purpose to buy links for PR any more.

Sure, they may be buying links for exposure, but… Google AdWords is there. AdBrite is just around the corner. AdEngage is in front of them already. So what’s the point of buying through TLA when links with the “nofollow” attribute are much cheaper (as far as I know)?

Your Thoughts…?

So there. I’d like to know your points of view. Will you still continue using Text Link Ads/LinkWorth/whatever? Or will you switch to other ad networks which will not put your site into danger?

I stumbled upon this blog a while ago and I already learned some webmaster things but now how can I monetize? Text link ads looks bad now! Yet John Chow says its a good money maker.

There are lots of moneymaking programs out there. Have you tried AdSense? If you’re banned, try Kontera, WidgetBucks (though some people doubt that WB will payout) or maybe AdBrite.

I’ve wanted to try Text Link Ads, but thought they were one of those companies that wouldn’t talk to you unless you had a high level of traffic, like 100k+ per month. Guess that’s a moot point now.

I’ve got Adsense on my site and have thought about diversifying with AdBrite and/or Amazon.

So does this mean that the pr of site doesn’t matter anymore?

Webmasters want to have good pr so that they can sell links.

    Chanya:
I think they automatically accept sites with PR4+. I am not sure though.. I just read that on another blog.

Karren: PR doesn’t really matter as far as rankings are concerned, but some people do treat it with much significance.

“Webmasters want to have good pr so that they can sell links.” EXACTLY.

Since Im still new in this game, I dont care. But in my thought, the best is drop text-link-ads if you are still depend much on Google.
