The Good and Bad Sides of SEO

Posted by Mike | Filed under SEO

Google SERPsAs we all know, search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving a website’s rankings on search engines and getting more traffic from them. With SEO, we can boost our websites’ traffic and increase our earnings and popularity.

There are a lot more things that SEO can do to us and for us, and luckily, I’ll list everything that I can think of in this post!

Some of the things that you may find in this post are only for fun and humor, so don’t take everything seriously. Just relax, analyze the things and have fun! Oh, if you have some stuff to add here, please feel free to tell us by commenting at this post. Thanks!

The Good Sides of SEO

As we all know, SEO is something that webmasters really focus on to make their sites visible to the web surfers. So that’s already one good thing about SEO — it helps us get more visitors and more money. Here are other goody-good things about SEO:

  • It allows us to defeat our opponents, especially if we cannot beat them in physical fights.
  • It gives us the opportunity to test our patience.
  • We can earn by being a professional SEO consultant.
  • We, the webmasters, are getting more analytical!
  • People are able to build businesses like link marketplaces because of SEO.
  • Webmasters don’t have to look for something to work hard on — SEO is here!
  • We can make money by selling seemingly useful e-books about SEO… Believe me, a lot of people are buying these stuff!
  • SEO-related blogs like The WWW Observer were born. :P

The Bad Sides of SEO

Now that I’m done discussing the good sides, here are the bad sides of the wicked SEO.

  • Webmasters who talk to each other would just babble about keywords, the sandbox and META tags. Some of their colleagues might not be able to relate to them.
  • Most of the time, newbie webmasters spend lots of their money just for SEO! They don’t even realize that they can use the money for a better web design and better content. SEO isn’t everything…
  • Optimizing a site can take a lot of time and hard work. We may, from time to time, experience fatigue, eye redness, back pains and other illnesses which are caused by staying in front of a computer for a long time.
  • Google is starting to “hypnotize” and control webmasters because of search engine optimization.
  • Webmasters are getting stressed out because they’ve been thinking about increasing their site’s backlinks for a month already.
  • Some webmasters stopped publishing high-quality content, they just write keyword-rich stuff to attain higher search engine rankings.

I’ve been focusing on SEO on my blog and BANS store for the past couple of weeks, and I agree: I have become incoherent! I babble to myself about keywords, tags, etc. It’s like a different language!! I guess to succeed, we all have to be a little nuts. :-)
