Tips on How to Write Great Content
Posted by Mike | Filed under SEO, Traffic-buildingWhat Exactly is Website Content?
The content of a website is its backbone; no website can live for long without it. Great content can attract more readers by making the site more noticeable on the search engines’ result pages and of course, by being viral. People who read it will pass it on to everybody they know if they find it interesting and/or controversial, and when that happens, the website will be gaining a lot of visitors. This will increase the chances of the webmaster to make sales. This can also make the search engine rankings of the site better if the people who read the content will link to it.
Now that I have told you what the benefits of having some great content are, it’s time to know how to write killer content!
Tips on How to Write Great Content
Know what you’re talking about. Before you can even create content, you should know what to write and how to deliver the message properly. If you don’t even know what you will be writing about, don’t bother making an article or an essay about it. You will not be able to inform your readers about that certain topic.
If you’re really desperate, research THOROUGHLY about that specific subject, but do not just copy-paste whatever you see while researching. Analyze the data and then write your article after reading and understanding your research.
Focus on your subject. This is an important factor if you want your writings to be considered ‘great’. Don’t jump to different topics, stick to what you’re talking about and you’ll be fine.
Make it timeless and timely. Great content do not become outdated after a week or so, they remain as something worth to read. If you’re writing an article, ask yourself first: Will the people who read this today recommend this to another person after one year? If the answer to that question is yes, then continue writing. If the answer is no, I think you have to start all over again.
Choose the right title for your work. The title always plays a significant role in every piece of written work. If you use a captivating title (or maybe an informative title), your readers will be more curious about the topic and they will read it. If your title is not eye-catching, there’s a high possibility that the people will not bother to read the article.
The title doesn’t only help you get the attention of the readers, it will also aid your site get higher search engine rankings. If you’re targeting the keyword “blogging” and the article that you will write is about blogging techniques, it will be wise to use “Hardcore Blogging Techniques” or something similar as the title because the keyword is there and it describes what the article is all about. By doing that, you’re hitting two birds with one stone — your site will get higher rankings and people will be persuaded to read the article.
Make it easy to understand. Anything that is hard to comprehend won’t be able to get a lot of attention, so be sure that your content is not difficult to understand. Use a variety of words that you think would make the readers understand your message better.
Don’t make it to lengthy nor too short. A person will not waste all of his time on a 5,000 word article unless he’s really looking for in-depth details about the topic that the article is about. He will just scan it and look for the information that he needs, so don’t make your works too long! Very short articles aren’t nice since the lack of information will not please the readers. Try to make your written works informative but not that long that those who read it will fall asleep. Guides are different though, you have to make it very detailed so that you can help the people in need.
A few reminders: Remember that great content will lead to the following:
a. better search engine rankings because people would most likely link to your content;
b. more visitors because of better search engine rankings and people passing the article to others;
c. more earnings because of an increased number of visitors
Always do your best in order to create high-quality content!

Nice post.
An captivating title is probably the most important element of any article. It must seduce the reader into clicking your headline and visiting your website.
When I first started blogging, I didn’t spend enough time crafting a wonderful title even though my content was great.
As for lengthy content, I try my best to provide in-depth articles on a topic to serve as a comprehensive resource for my readers. I rather write 1-2 wonderful, comprehensive articles per week than 5 shorter entries b/c comprehensive articles yield more value over the long run.
I guess it really depends on your niche & your reader’s demands.
Hi Tarik, thanks for visiting!
Yes, I agree with you that it really depends on your market/targeted audience.
I wholeheartedly agree with the point about choosing the right title. Not only does it help with the writing process, but thanks to the current state of the Internet, it will determine what search traffic you will get as a result of the post. 80% of the page’s spontaneous traffic generating potential is decided the moment you select your headline.

To add to your excellent post, it cannot be emphasized enough that good spelling and proper grammar is a must for great content. I’ve seen articles and posts that would’ve been excellent had it not been for poor spelling and wrong choice of words.
I’ve seen tons of articles and posts out there that are brimming with information. Unfortunately, most of them require a degree in rocket science to comprehend. When writing an article, try to word it in layman’s terms so that most people get the jist of your write-up. While it may seem that using highly technical terminology will make it appear that you are an authority in your field, it will, more often than not, result in most people losing interest in your article fairly quickly.
Viral is the way to go. That really helps, also try DIGG.
