Why Your Blog Isn’t Getting Anywhere

Posted by Jug | Filed under Blogging

I know there are people who set up blogs and wonder why their blogs aren’t getting more readers, visitors, and even income. I have received numerous e-mails before asking for advice and techniques to make their blog get to the next level, so now I am writing this post to make you aware why some blogs (or why YOUR blog) isn’t getting anywhere.

Why Your Blog Isn’t Getting Anywhere

You aren’t a dedicated blogger. If you aren’t dedicated enough, then expect to see no improvements. If you post once a month, don’t even bother assuming that your blog is gradually growing… per month. If you own a blog, make sure that you spend some time on it everyday or at least thrice a week.

You never listen to suggestions. You are close-minded. Sometimes, you can only realize the best things that you must implement through suggestions from readers and other peers. If you think you’re so great and you don’t need any more improvements for your blog, then you’re nothing but a loser. Remember that you (and your blog) can only grow if you are willing to take constructive criticism and advice from BETTER and MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE people.

You cheat yourself. There are people who cheat by forcibly increasing their subscriber count. They think that by having more (fake) subscribers, more adverstisers will come their way, thus they would make more money. If you do this, then obviously your blog won’t get to the next level! Even if you have 1,550 subscribers, but 1549 of them are fake, then you still won’t make it to blogging stardom. ;)

You blog because you want to make money — and that’s it. Seriously now, many people create blogs solely to earn money. Helping people? Giving advice? Publishing their thoughts and opinions? No, nada, zilch. Those things never come into their minds. The only thought that they have is “MAKE MORE MONEY”. Now if that’s your goal, then why don’t you beg on the streets? Blogging should be considered as a way to help others, keep track of your achievements, and express your opinions. It should not be used as a tool to MERELY make some money.

Basically that’s it. If you do the aforementioned things, then your blog won’t be getting anywhere. It will slowly die, trust me.

P.S. A friend of mine is going to launch an internet marketing blog, and he’s looking for ‘early’ subscribers. He’s not publishing posts yet (as far as I know… well, you gotta trust me, I’m subscribed!), but I’m pretty sure that once the blog is up there would be some awesome posts.

Confirmed e-mail subscribers will be automatically included in a raffle, wherein one lucky e-mail subscriber will get $20 cash through PayPal. I am urging you guys to subscribe and not miss out on this one!

“You blog because you want to make money — and that’s it.”—Yep that’s it in a nutshell. Awesome article. Some people have been misled in believing that if they put it up, they will come and money will flow from your computer over night. I blog because I love to write, which is certainly an extension of me loving to talk…my whole thing is, do what you love and the money will follow. Pretty simple, eh?

I don’t fit in any of these categories. So the question just comes back to: Why isn’t my blog growing?

“You aren’t a dedicated blogger”. Once again, persistance and hard working is the key of success. No quick success. Great points Jug! Jug is you again…I’m so surprised :) ! I thought it was Mike.

@Parth: Don’t forget the fact that some niches naturally have really really small market, for example, kicking bananas into a trash bin. Not a lot of people would be interested in reading a blog about it right? If you would like, let me know more about your blog. I might be able to help you with it. ;)

@Jane: Hey, so what’s up?

Maybe that means that I’m not dedicated person :)
Well after reading your article, I decided to think about making my blog again, but not for money, just for my self :)

Been thinking about starting our own blog. You and many other blogs have shown that it is not as easy as it all looks. It involves serious dedication and skills to get right.

I think for now I will just post on others.

I agree with what you say. To me the key to a successful blog is post for your visitors and ensure you interact with them regularly. Its like in business if you sell a product that people want and give them great service they will continuously come back, no difference.
