Yet Another Redesign!
Posted by Mike | Filed under Blogging, MiscellaneousWell guys, I guess you now know that I’m the type of person easily gets tired of one design. Actually, I got rid of the other design because I thought it was too tight and crowded. I sold it for like $100 (bargain price, actually) and immediately hired Richard Shank to create a new design for me. He’s the guy who designed all the themes that I’ve used for The WWW Observer and I must say, I’m really impressed with his exceptional talent.
After getting the design done, I asked Kien to code it and I was amazed with his fast turnaround time and great coding skills. I HIGHLY recommend the two guys if ever you need some design and coding work done!
Anyway, let me tell you the new features of the theme. First, there’s the box with tabs on top of it. It’s not really new, but I think not all of you have seen the other theme so… yeah. Well, it’s really fun to “use” so do check it out (You can’t resist to check it out, it’s right on top of the page!
) You can also see the subscription options to the right. They’re the stuff right below the search bar (duh..), and you can easily subscribe via RSS or via e-mail through them. Well, I don’t think I have to say everything that the theme has, just go and see for yourself!
Let’s stop talking about The WWW Observer’s theme right now. I know some of you are thinking of getting a redesign for your blogs, so we might as well talk about hiring coders and designers. When you’re hiring people, for your own sake, PLEASE hire a professional and reputable one. I’ve seen many people complaining about low-quality yet very expensive theme designers/coders. Before you hire them, make sure to check their portfolio and the customer reviews. If you’re a member of a forum (like Digital Point), it is always wise to check the iTrader points of a person before having a transaction with him. By doing so, you can assure a scam-free and satisfactory deal.
I guess that’s it for now guys. It’s 21:54 here and there’s school to attend tomorrow. Uhh… Stay tuned guys, I’ll be back with more stuff tomorrow. Right now, just lemme get some rest. Oh wait, before I go, I’d like to ask for your opinions regarding the new theme. Thanks! Well, good night… *yawns*

I liked the separation of your logo from your top navigation link bar. That’s looking quite professional.
By the way, please let Kein know that, as per the usability point of view, the comment boxes are not user friendly. When I use tab to jump from one text field [like name] to another [email], the existing text does not go away but is just selected. It shall go away, the moment I focus on that specific textfield.
I face major problem when I come to text area and I see “Enter comments here…” that does not go away and I have to select it and delete before I start commenting.
My two cents.
Yeah, just noticed that too. I’ll get it fixed ASAP.
Now you’ll have a more convenient time in commenting.
EDIT - 18:58 (GMT+8): Hey, just got it fixed.
I like this theme - it’s one of the best ones I’ve seen around the blogosphere to be honest.
In my opinion, I like the previous one better in some areas (particularly the top part). Nonetheless, this theme is incredible everywhere else.
Multippt: Well, I think the previous theme was too crowded so yeah… I decided to change it.
I didn’t quite notice the “recommended ..latest news ..” tab on top …once, the page took a long time to load and i noticed an extra bit hanging up there. It was then i noticed these tags and started clicking around
Rajaram S: Sorry if the page loads a little slow the first time. Can’t really do something unless the javascripts can load a little faster.
Very nice design.
I recommend you to increase the post count on homepage to atleast 5
