Dreaming About Money Can’t Make You Any Money

“Some people dream of success while others wake up and work hard at it.”

- Anonymous

Many people who wish to be rich by blogging usually think that they can just a publish a few posts, splatter some ads on their pages and expect their rooms to be filled with money the next day. With that kind of ‘tactic’, you will surely fail in making money online. Well… You can’t expect your blog to regularly post great articles, attract readers and advertisers and then make money by itself!

I see many people who are making a big mistake. They set-up autoblogs, stuff some ads on the posts and sit back, relax and wait for the cash to magically appear. Autoblogs are a big no-no if you want real cash, as blogs can’t make money by themselves!

Though making money online is not as hard as some of you think, it’s not as easy as 1-2-3 either. I truly believe that lots of money only come when you exert a good amount of effort, use a bit of your creativity and spend time in writing for your blog. Without those three, you probably won’t achieve your goal of getting rich through blogging.

My Own Experience

When I started building blogs, the first thing that I did was write a few content. After ONE DAY, I signed-up for AdSense and luckily, I was accepted. After placing the ad codes, all I did was check my AdSense account every hour and to my dismay, I earned nothing. I never thought about posting to attract visitors, I just hoped to see $100 in my account without doing anything…

Then I got tired of waiting for the money. I started to click my own ads (which was an idiotic act), and I got banned from AdSense. That was the time that I realized that there’s no way to make a single cent online if one does not put enough work to attract visitors. I hope that the new bloggers out there can learn and benefit from my mistake!

An Empty Blog WILL Lead to an Empty Pocket

Got the most expensive web hosting plan? Got $5,000 to spend on AdWords to advertise your site? Got the most elusive WordPress theme? Those are NOTHING if your blog is as empty as space.

People read blogs for a reason. Some read for pleasure and entertainment, while some read to obtain the information that they need. They don’t like to waste their time on nonsense stuff. They don’t like the idea of staring at blank pages either.

Seriously, you can’t expect thousands of people to visit your blog and click on ads if you don’t have any post except the “Hello World!” post. You won’t get visitors because the mere sight of an empty blog can trigger a person to click on the “Back” button as soon as he can. In the end, you will just end up making $0 and losing your capital.

Stop Wasting Time and Money NOW

Instead of setting up hundreds of blogs and hoping that they can make you some money, why don’t you build a single blog and concentrate on it so that you can gradually increase your RSS subscriber count? Once your readership grows, advertisers will be attracted and you will earn money from your blog.

Getting a stable readership base is not easy though. You need to be COMMITTED to what you’re doing and you need to focus on your link baiting writing skills. As I said, if you exert enough effort, time and creativity, you will be successful in making money from your blog. ;)

Man, that is so true. I can relate to it as well(except for clicking my own ads, I know its a big no-no with google). Empty blogs do lead to nothing, zilch, nada. If anyone wants to profit from their blog, they should first start blog for their own enjoyment, and who knows maybe that person’s interest will attract people with same interest as well.

I would spend my time reading nonsense stuff, but this depends on how much I’d get paid to do that
I noticed a funny trend amongst some bloggers: they write one or two posts, then they want their blog to be reviewed. Too bad there’s almost nothing to review…

So it’s all about the money, eh?

Anyway, I agree with this one: “They write one or two posts, then they want their blog to be reviewed.”

Sometimes, I encounter people who want to buy reviews for their blogs, but they have empty blogs! What in the world will the reviewer be able to talk about? Their blog design? LOL.

I agree. I think this sometimes occurs because newbie bloggers visit the “pro bloggers” sites, see how much money they’re making on their blogs and think “this looks easy - I can do this.” What they don’t know (and sometimes don’t bother to research) is that the bloggers making lots of money have been at it for some time and their success didn’t come overnight.

Some bloggers put more ads than the total number of posts they have… hoping that some visitor clicks on them.

I completely agree. If I had to do one thing differently when setting up my blog, I would have started out by writing ten-twenty quality posts before even setting up the site. It would have definitely gotten me ahead instead of playing catch up those first few weeks.

This post fits completely with my experience, i remember putting adsense on my sitre for the first time and like you i checked it every hour to find nothing!

You cant expect quick money from blogs, it’s about adding good content and building a fan base.
